How does massage therapy work?
Each manual release technique affects the body differently. It is up to the therapist to carefully craft the treatment after assessing your goals and expectations for the massage.
Some techniques work on the receptors in the origin, insertion and belly of the muscle to tell the brain to relax or release tension.
Is massage therapy covered by OHIP or private insurance?
OHIP does not cover massage, but most private plans do. To see if your insurance covers massage we recommend you call your provider directly.
How long are massage sessions?
Massage sessions are typically 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes. Although, sometimes you can find providers who also offer 15, 75 or 120 minute sessions.
Which massage is best?
Short answer, the best massage for you is different than the best massage for your neighbor.
Things to consider when looking for a massage are; your goals for treatment, the environment of the clinic or spa, the therapists' additional training or certificates, and the length of treatments offered. Every therapist has a unique approach to treatment.
